{red carpet review}: Academy Awards

Without a doubt, everyone looked beautiful last night!
Red and nude were the colors of the evening.
(slightly disappointed - the brunette was hoping for purple)

But Mila Kunis pulled through with the lavender gown and is the brunette's best dressed pick.

Another absolute favorite of the brunette (a little controversial) was Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture in a beautiful lavender/pinkish color.
I'm in love with her slightly messy simple bob.

I love it so much I have to show another picture that shows it even better!

The ladies in red were all beautiful!
The first to walk the red carpet was bombshell Jennifer Lawrence.
She opted for a sleek Calvin Klein dress with no jewelry.
She looks ah-ma-zing but this is the Oscars so I would've liked to see a little more glamour...

This isn't our favorite color for Sandra Bullock but she is a beautiful, classic movie star.  Her bag was a little off, especially on camera but we will let it slide:)

Anne Hathaway walked the red carpet in Valentino Couture.
She was beautiful but oh my goodness her first dress on stage!  We'll get to that in a minute!

Nudes.
We're honestly a little over the nude gowns.
But Mande Moore looked gorgeous.

And little Hallie Steinfeld - in (you're not going to believe this) - a one-of-a-kind Marchesa gown that she designed for herself.
This is one lucky girl!

A combo of red and nude - worn by Rhea Durham
another favorite of the brunette.

Playing it safe in black...
Busy Phillips.

Camila Alves looked gorgeous.
She's always lovely but has really knocked it out of the park this year!
Kind of reminds you of Gwenyth's pink gown she wore the year she won?!?

Some people have said Reese Witherspoon looked like a Barbie.
Um, since when is that a bad thing?  Barbie is hot!  :o)

Of course "neutrals" don't just come in black, they also come in white.

Celine Dion was rockin' her dress and can we just please point out this woman had
TWINS in OCTOBER?!

Michelle Williams was beautiful in Chanel, and her hair and makeup were just spot-on!

Nicole Kidman will probably be another controversial lady of the evening.
The brunette loves to see Nicole in softer and more colorful selections...

But a metallic white showstopper:

Gweneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein - the blonde's best dressed pick.

The brunette is in 100% agreement that Gwen looked AMAZING!
Holy canoli!

A couple ladies we absolutely can't leave out:
Amy Adams looks gorgeous in Navy with her beautiful red hair.
Love the green necklace!

Jennifer Hudson in tangerine.
Wow.
Not only is her body rockin' thanks to Weight Watchers, but she is just glowing!
And that orange on her dark skin - she is just perfection!

So lost...

Well, kids, it's a sad day, indeed.

I hoped this day would never ever come in my life.
I have lost something incredibly important to me.

My pink jump drive.

My whole blog world was on that jump.
All my ideas, all my images, even the list of all the blogs I read.
I have searched high and low, and in every jacket and pants pocket.

Sure, I have the blogs I'm "following" - but there were so many others, so much inspiration, gone!!

I'm really super bummed, so please comment some of your favorite blogs or things that have inspired you lately!

In the meantime, I can't wait to see what the stars wear on the Red Carpet tonight!
I hear rumor purple will be the color of the night - we shall see!

See you tomorrow with our faves!!

Reaching for Spring - a Little Too Early!

It's way to early to start switching out my closet, huh?

These past few days of sunshine and temps in the 70s have completely, 100% spoiled me and I can't WAIT for spring to get here!  So much so that I aaaaalmost started switching out my closet last night.
(thank goodness because it's chilly again today!)

Last Saturday the blonde and I went hiking up Pinnacle Mountain here in Little Rock - first time for me!
This is one of the photos I took from the top - isn't Arkansas beautiful?!  :o)

Anyhoo - here are a few of the things I'm super excited about this spring:

Light, airy sweaters are everywhere this year and make a great "transitional" piece...

Anthropologie has these beauties to pick from!

This one is my favorite of all favorites - I love the length and asymmetrical hemline!

This one is not really "airy" but it is short sleeved and I love the style.

Even in summer I freeze in restaurants, so I like to keep a wrap or shrug on hand and this one from Gap would definitely go with anything.

I can't wait for the return of "effortless stye" - straw hats, scarves, oversized t-shirts, shades.
Oh. so. cool.

Maxi dresses are coming back - yet again.

The blonde purchased this one at Anthropologie last week - it is ADORABLE!

I've had MY eyes on this one...

It seems like maxi dresses are never long enough for me, so I like the twist that's coming this spring - maxi skirts.

This is my pick!

It looks cuter on the model - love the way she has it styled.
Easter is always unpredictable in Arkansas - it can be mild to below freezing, so this is definitely in the running for me - it can easily be styled to fit the weather!

But what I'm most looking forward to this spring - the return of lazy days reading outside!

the blonde is alive

I'm alive and doing great!  No, the brunette and I did not get in a huge fight or anything near that dramatic, but I did get a new job and have been super duper busy!

The last time I blogged was at the end of Dec. when I was headed to NYC...I know, that's awful...bad blogger {slaps own hand}! Well, we had a fabulous trip...I love that city!

Here's our super cute hotel room!

And a shot of the awesome lobby...
We stayed at The Marcel at Gramercy, and I highly recommend this hotel!

Since the trip was almost two months ago, I will spare you all the holiday window pics and just give you a few of my faves...
My husband and I headed to dinner at Gramercy Tavern!

All bundled up one morning on our way to have brunch at Bathazar in Soho...

Spending the afternoon in Central Park!

So since the trip...I had a nice holiday break and started a new job at the first of the year!  I've been completely overwhelmed (in a good way) and have been totally distracted from the real world...you know like spring trends, celeb gossip, daily trips to the mall on my lunch break - all the important things:)  Hey, some days I lie down at night and realize I never even checked facebook that day...what?!?

Last week, I seriously started getting worried because I didn't have one item on my "spring must have" list...and then I fell in love with these...

Jeans...what...I'm not a huge jean girl, but this JBrand skinny flare excites me!  For the past for years I've only worn skinny jeans, and I'm welcoming back the flare!

I love how they are still super fitted through the hips!

I saw one of my fave blondes wearing a pair of flares today!
Popsugar has a better pic, but you can't copy theirs, so this is from 12:04 blog.

Who What Wear did a great spread last week on the flared jean...

Finally, something to buy:)
I'm seriously excited about switching up my jean style!

Okay, so I have one more beauty trend that I cannot get out of my head...

Eyelash extensions...which equals no more mascara!

I have two girlfriends that have them and love them!
What do you think?
All I've heard are the pros...does anyone know any cons?!?

It feels good to be back to a blonde and a brunette...

but I have to admit the brunette was doing an amazing job all on her own!
Super big thank you to her!

feelin the love...

One year ago, on Valentine's Day night, we got together and composed our very first blog posts.
(the blonde's husband is very understanding) :o)

Our concept: two girls, two styles, one blog.

And over the past year we have most definitely felt the love from you all!

Thank you so much for all the kind comments and encouragement!
We love your feedback!
It's better than hot cocoa on a cold day!

Or coffee...

Can't ignore the "LOVE"...

I would like to devour these.  Immediately!  :o)

This is the cutest, easiest idea - so festive!

Next year I am soooo doing this craft!
 How adorable is this wreath?!

You know we can't miss an opportunity for a chalkboard post!

What are you doing this Valentine's Day?
Romantic Retreat??

Or perhaps a singles party??
(for a good laugh, read about Erin from ElementsofStyle's party from last year)

YAY for one year blogging!
It's been so fun!

We'd love to hear from you, valentines...
what would you like to see on this blog?
